The Equipment - Glass
Dear beginners,
The equipment is kind of a thing. Do you have any idea in which glass you need to pour the red or white wine? The glasses are called after the two most important wine regions in France; Bordeaux Glass and Bourgogne Glass (remember!). I will teach you directly the clue, which I feel comfortable with; Bordeaux is a dominated red where different reds are blended and the area is a bit bigger than the Bourgogne area where the white Chardonnay is dominating. The Bordeaux glass is more bold and to the top smaller, the reason is when you swirl you glass, the aroma's will get more open instead of closed and will stay in the glass. A Bourgogne glass is slightly taller en a bit smaller. The reason is that oxidation can occur faster and you need to keep the aroma's in the glass.
There are more glasses for different types of wines, like Champagne, the Flüte. The Flüte is even more elegant and you can see the bubbles of the bubbly wine more, I will teach you later on what the bubbles can say about the wine. It is a glass to celebrate every event or achievement in your life.
Kindly find below a picture of glasses we have more. For example for Port, Cognac and Whisky. You can even choose at a summer day for a smaller glass, nice and casual.
