TRAVEL - Tapas & Cava in Barcelona
Dear Readers,
Today I would like to share my Barcelona experience. Due to fact that I am working for an international organization where we work with 2000 employees, I meet also new friends. This time I met Evelyne for the first time in real-life. During the week we have always contact. We complete together big tenders for global organizations and on Monday we discuss our weekends in detail. Evelyne moved for her work from Antwerp to Barcelona.
I traveled to Barcelona at the end of March, unfortunately this is the rainy month, thus hereby my first tip: travel around mid of April to catch enough sun.
When arriving on Friday evening it was raining so we went early to a lovely wine bar called Disset 17 Graus. The wine bar is located in the area El Borne, between the lovely small streets and bakeries. The tapas were gorgeous and we started with the typical Pan Con Tomate a banquette with olive oil, tomato and sea salt, delicious and fresh. This can be combined with a white wine. We had more lovely tapas like aubergine with honey, cheese and onions and croquettes. It is a typical Spanish bar, but our maître talked our language and did a good job when serving our dishes.
On Saturady morning we visit the Sagrada Familia, which is one of the churches you need to visit. The inside is renovated, the colours in the building are amazing. Unfortunately I found it quite expensive for a visit of 45 minutes. Please book the sightseeing in advance.
Later we took the metro to the Port of Barcelona and we planned to eat typical Spanish fish. We went to restaurant Bitácora. This bar was full of locals and they were loud, laughing and singing. The atmosphere was great, the food...less! Evelyne had lasagne with fish, but it was burned, I had patatos bravas with octopus, it is was ok, but the cayenne pepper was a bit overwhelming.
In the afternoon we went to a small coffee house called Granja Petit Bo at the Passeig Sant Joan, the interior was of industrial vintage design. I love the stone floors in Barcelona which are cubes in all kind of formats and colours. We had some tea, the staff was nice and their cake looked lovely.
Sunday we first went to Parc Güell. Lovely buildings and a lot of mozaiek, but very busy!! We planned to have lunch a bit earlier because the place could be full. We predicted that good since we wait at Cup & Cake for 45 minutes, so we booked a table. While waiting, we walked through the street and arrived at Cosmo to drink some very good cappuccino. This lunch bar is definitely one you need to visit its located at C. Enric Granados 3.
At 2 o'clock we had lunch. We both had a lovely salad one with mango, chicken & Avocado and one with quinoa, hummus, raisins, spinach and nuts. It didn't had the "wow" factor but it was worth waiting for. On Sunday afternoon we went to the Ramblas to drink Cava since this one was left on my bucket list.
I really loved my 2 day visit in Barcelona. It was all about sightseeing, food and meeting people. We walked a lot and I found the people quite nice and helpful. It was short but I am willing to go back when it is summer, since the beach must be also a nice place to relax.
Adios amigos y besitos,
Annalia
